A New Hire and a Promotion at Kuakini

Kuakini Medical Center (Kuakini) has hired Virginia Walker as its Managing Director for Inpatient Nursing Services.
Virginia, a registered nurse (RN) and oncology certified nurse (OCN), originally joined the Kuakini Health Care Team in October 1991. She started as an oncology nurse in the Makai 5 nursing unit before becoming a nursing supervisor. Prior to leaving at the end of 2003, she served as the Patient Care Coordinator for Emergency Services. In her new role, she will oversee all of the inpatient nursing units at Kuakini.
Virginia returns to Kuakini with nearly a decade of health care management experience and has served as the manager and director at several other Hawaii health care organizations.
Kuakini also appointed Edna Gappe as the Patient Care Coordinator (PCC) for the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and Acute Hemodialysis. Edna brings about 30 years of health care experience as well as considerable knowledge about her department to her new position. In August 2009, she rejoined the Kuakini Health Care Team as assistant PCC for the PCU and Acute Hemodialysis. Edna first started at Kuakini as a nurse in 1982 and served as a PCC and Supervisor before leaving in 1990.
