Kuakini has been in the forefront of providing health care in Hawaii using the latest technology, clinical expertise
and research data to care for patients and residents. However, as a nonprofit health care organization, keeping up with the needs of the community and the demand for accessible, affordable, quality medical and health care services requires greater funding sources. Therefore Kuakini must place greater dependence on fundraising and community support. Fundraising will continue to play an important role for Kuakini. Since its establishment in 1900, Kuakini has relied on donations and contributions from individuals and organizations as a major source of funds to help finance the latest medical equipment purchases, facility renovations and other capital improvements which improve and expand the programs and services provided to patients and residents.
Kuakini Foundation was established as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization in 1983 to develop a broader base of community financial support to assist Kuakini in providing health care services to the people of Hawaii. Kuakini has had a number of modernization building fund drives and multi-year fundraising campaigns in the past to finance needed capital improvement projects.
Kuakini Foundation is responsible for the fundraising activities of Kuakini Health System, parent organization of the Foundation and three other not-for-profit subsidiaries: Kuakini Medical Center; Kuakini Geriatric Care, Inc., and Kuakini Support Services, Inc. Donations and contributions received by Kuakini are not used for any type of operational costs such as salaries, benefits and supplies. Kuakini does not sell or share our donor mailing lists with other organizations.
