Subsidiaries
The following is a brief synopsis of our subsidiaries.
Kuakini Health System is a nonprofit, parent corporation that is organized and operated for charitable, research and educational purposes. Kuakini Health System provides comprehensive medical services and programs at reasonable cost to the public through four subsidiaries: Kuakini Medical Center, Kuakini Geriatric Care, Inc., Kuakini Foundation, and Kuakini Support Services, Inc.
Kuakini Medical Center is a nonprofit organization that operates an eleemosynary acute care hospital accredited by the Joint Commission. The Medical Center is a tertiary teaching hospital licensed for 212 acute medical/surgical beds and 24 critical care beds.
Kuakini Geriatric Care, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that provides a range of programs and services for older adults in need of long-term care and geriatric related health care services. The subsidiary operates a nursing home facility (187 licensed beds), a residential care home (34 licensed beds), and an adult day services program (located at two community sites).
Kuakini Foundation is a nonprofit organization established to develop a broader base of community financial support to enhance the provision of quality health care services. The Foundation coordinates fundraising activities for the Health System and the endowment and charitable planned giving program.
Planned Giving Program
Kuakini Support Services, Inc. is a nonprofit organization responsible for developing alternative sources of revenue. The subsidiary is responsible for the development and construction of the second physicians office building and second parking structure on the Kuakini campus. Also, the subsidiary is responsible for the research support and initiatives of the Health System and its subsidiaries, and the oversight of the Kuakini Auxiliary, which is an ancillary organization.
