Respiratory therapists from Pulmonary Services assist physicians in caring for inpatients and outpatients with abnormalities and/or deficiencies associated with the respiratory system. The department provides diagnostic procedures which include complete pulmonary function tests and body plethysmography which help diagnose lung problems; arterial blood gases which determine the amount of carbon dioxide and oxygen in the blood; exercise studies for athlete's fitness and to determine exercise induced asthma; bronchoscopy; and oximetry.

The staff provides electroencephalography (EEG) services or brain wave tests to record changes in brain activity which may indicate certain conditions and diseases. Tests are given to inpatients and outpatients through physician orders.
