Celebrating 102 Years of Life
Kuakini Home resident Bessie Tanaka (formerly Shizuka Hamasaki) received a congratulatory message and a commemorative gift from the Japanese Consulate of Honolulu in observance of Respect-for-the-Aged Day, a national holiday in Japan. Presented by Consul and Medical Attache Dr. Hiroshi Yamaguchi (not pictured), the recognition is given once to every Japanese person who reaches the age of 100. Bessie was born in May 1911. She is 102 years old. Bessie’s family celebrated with her at Kuakini Home.
