Surgical Technician III - Surgery  (Req# 2010-016 - Casual Part-time and Req.# 2010-065 -Regular Full-time)

Regular Full-time works (40) hours per week, 8-hour shifts.  Casual Part-time works 8-16 hours per week. Requires being on call with flexibility in scheduling on-call assignments. Occasional overtime required. Shift/weekend rotation required when necessary.

Kuakini Medical Center

Assists the surgeons in the performance of cardiac or orthopedic procedures, and is assigned scrub duties and specific perioperative duties.  Works under the surgeon's directions.

High school diploma or equivalent, required. Experience in scrubbing in all specialty areas preferred.  Two years experience as a Surgical Technician required.  Requires certification and/or training to perform Surgical Assistant duties for cardiac or orthopedic procedures:  clamping and tying vessels, ligating, suturing and closure of surgical incisions, tissue cauterization.  National Association of Surgical Technologists (AST) certification preferred.  Completion of Operating Room Training Course required.  Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, Level C required, with retraining once every two years.  Successful completion of two-day mandatory orientation classes and preceptor program for new hires required.
