MRSA Prevention Tips
Here are a few personal hygiene tips to prevent the spread of MRSA:
-
Wash your hands frequently (vigorously scrub the back and front of your hands for at least 15 seconds).
-
Carry hand sanitizer with at least 62% alcohol.
-
Avoid sharing personal items (e.g. towels, sheets, razors, clothing, and personal athletic equipment).
-
Clean wounds and keep them covered.
-
Sanitize linens by washing them in hot water with added bleach and dried in hot dryer.
-
Wash gym and athletic clothing after each use.
-
Monitor skin sores or wounds and follow up with a physician when necessary. MRSA infections start as small red bumps that look similar to spider bites, pimples or boils.
