Kuakini Medical Center’s Oncology Program received an Accreditation Award with a three-year Commendation from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (CoC) on July 17. According to the CoC, only one in four cancer programs receive accreditation.
While the accreditation process is voluntary, patients receiving treatment from a CoC accredited program can be assured that they are receiving quality, comprehensive, state-of-the-art, coordinated care close to home. As a CoC approved facility, Kuakini receives access to national resources and data such as the National Cancer Data Base. Facilities with CoC accreditation are also recognized for having high performance measures by organizations such as the Joint Commission, American Cancer Society, Aetna, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, National Quality Forum and the National Cancer Institute.
