Radiation Therapy

Kuakini’s Radiation Therapy staff provides treatment using high energy X-rays and electrons to destroy the cancer cells completely or control the cancer.  Special equipment is used to aim a predetermined amount of radiation at the tumor or a specific area of your body where cancer is or could be present. The goal of radiation therapy is to destroy cancer cells with as little risk as possible to normal cells. The latest technology in radiation therapy is available at Kuakini including CT Simulation, a Philips Pinnacle Treatment Planning Computer system and a Varian Linear Accelerator as well as intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) – a state-of-the-art cancer treatment that delivers multiple beams of high energy X-rays directly to a specific area while sparing surrounding tissues and organs.

Together with physicians, families, and support systems, we strive to strengthen our patients’ sense of self-respect, dignity, and determination, as they go through the cancer treatment process. This involves being patient, understanding and most of all, having empathy for what our patients are experiencing.

Every member of the Kuakini Health Care Team is committed to providing you with safe, quality health care services and exceptional customer care.
